A native of the UK, Jesse Laver moved to Canada in 1977 with his parents and spent his childhood and youth in Vancouver. Returning to the UK on several occasions, his connection to both North American and European culture has had a profound influence on his life and work.
Growing up in a creative family, (Mother an artist, Father a visual arts/photography instructor), also influenced Jesse’s choice of career. He worked briefly in the clothing industry after studying fashion design, and subsequently in real estate, where he realised that there was a serious disparity in how architecture and design, his specific fields of interest, are represented photographically.
He subsequently entered the field of architectural and interior design photography, honing his skills and developing a client base over the last decade consisting largely of architects, designers, builders, and realtors. Jesse specialises in the utilisation of natural light as far as possible to develop a strong sense of chiaroscuro in his work, giving his photographs a highly idiosyncratic character.
Jesse lives in the Lower Mainland of B.C. but accepts commissions locally, nationally and internationally.
